The SCENE consortium gathered on the 6th and 7th of May 2025 for its 6th plenary meeting in Athens, Greece, signifying an important moment to reflect on progress, strengthen coordination, and collectively look ahead to the final stretch of the project. The meeting took place alongside the workshop, “Unlocking the Future of European Cinema: AI, Cultural Heritage & Data-Driven Filmmaking”, co-organised by Athens Film Office and Hypertech, with the support of White Research. We extend our sincere thanks to Athens Film Office and Hypertech for their excellent organisation, hospitality, and strong local support that made both the meeting and workshop a success.

The workshop brought SCENE’s vision to life, offering a space for participants to engage with the project’s tools and platform, and to explore how emerging technologies can streamline and enrich the filmmaking process – from pre-production to distribution. Athens, as one of SCENE’s three pilot locations, showcased results on how our solutions are being tested and refined in real-world settings. Feedback collected from stakeholders during the event is now being used to fine-tune the platform’s usability and scope.

During the plenary meeting, partners focused on cross-cutting priorities that define this phase of the project: completing pilot execution, enhancing user experience, and preparing for public demonstrations. Across all pilots, stakeholder mapping has been finalised, technical components are being integrated, and communication strategies are ramping up. There was a strong emphasis on ensuring SCENE’s long-term relevance – whether through business model refinement, creator engagement, or cultural collaborations that bridge technology and storytelling.

The consortium is also preparing follow-ups to the workshop, including outreach to new stakeholders and an invitation to join SCENE’s Network of Interest. These actions are part of a wider dissemination strategy that aims to reinforce SCENE’s alignment with key European initiatives, such as the New European Bauhaus, and to position the project at the intersection of cultural innovation, technological development, and creative industry transformation.

With each meeting, SCENE advances further into implementation and impact. The energy and collaboration seen in Athens reflect the project’s shared commitment to shaping a future for European cinema that is more accessible, connected, and enriched by heritage and innovation.
