ABOUT BASILICA OF SANTA
CATERINA D’ALESSANDRIA

The Basilica, famous for its 14th-century frescoes and Gothic-Romanesque architecture, is a gem of southern Italian religious art. Its frescoed walls and vaulted ceilings attract both pilgrims and art historians, creating an atmosphere of reverence that enriches any film narrative.

To preserve its delicate artwork, SCENE’s 3D models allow for pre-filming visualization, reducing the need for direct interaction with the frescoes. Additionally, digital audio simulations can replicate the Basilica’s acoustics, enabling sound designers to adapt the environment without the need for on-site audio testing.

ABOUT DE MONTI CASTLE

Castel de Monti, a 15th-century fortified structure, showcases the medieval architecture typical of the region. As a symbol of local resilience and feudal heritage, the castle draws visitors with an interest in medieval history. Its dramatic stonework and isolated rural setting offer a perfect backdrop for historical or fantasy film productions.

SCENE’s mobile 3D modeling and UWB tracking systems can be integrated into this rustic site to support filming. Limited indoor lighting is enhanced using the SCENE lighting simulation tool, enabling filmmakers to visualize and plan their scene setups in a controlled digital environment.

Pilot Scenario

The pilot uses detailed 3D models of both monuments, an existing one for the Basilica and a new one for the Castle. These models are used to create an interactive 360° virtual tour and a short animated film for each site, allowing users to explore and engage with the locations in a cinematic way. Both pieces will be distributed through SCENE’s platform, offering an innovative approach to integrating cultural heritage into film production and providing a new tool for filmmakers and audiences alike.
