SCENE PILOTS:

Cyprus

4 Selected Filming Locations in Cyprus

The Cyprus pilot showcases four distinct locations selected for their cinematic appeal, including a million-year-old ophiolite site and a UNESCO World Heritage church. With 3D modeling, lighting, and audio simulation tools, the SCENE platform enhances planning and visualization, making these locations more accessible and production-ready for filmmakers worldwide.

Pilot Scenario

A short film will be developed by GOF to demonstrate the functionality and benefits of the SCENE platform. The film will utilize SCENE’s tools, including 3D location scouting, audience engagement features, social media campaigns, audience preference analysis, platform recommendations, and streamlined distribution. It will be produced entirely in Cyprus, showcasing its cultural heritage sites and filming potential. Once completed, the short film will be distributed through the SCENE platform using decentralized smart contracts.

Timeline and used tools

Pre-production

  • Location Scouting Tool: Utilized by the director and production team to assess the suitability of each filming site, considering accessibility and lighting conditions. This tool helps plan the shooting schedule, addressing logistical concerns, including crowd control and permits.

  • 3D Modeling: This tool is essential for the remote recce and the pre-production phase of the film, especially for foreign productions

  • Lighting and Audio Simulation Tools: During location scouting and pre-production will enable a more in-depth exploration of location potential, allowing for the simulation of various scenarios to meet specific filming requirements

Post – Production

  • Light and Audio Effects : These post-production tools, as an extension of the editing software allow to add extra effects that are specific for the locations used

Distribution

  • Distribution Engine: This pilot will employ a distribution engine and a recommendation system designed to identify the most effective distribution options, whether targeting specific countries, festivals, events, or local channels,

  • Blockchain: A crucial component of the Cyprus pilot is the integration of blockchain technology to ensure the security and management of intellectual property rights (IPR).

ACOUSTIC MODELLING AND LOCATION SCOUTING

Held by Aristotle University Thessaloniki and Green Olive Films

HOW WAS ACOUSTIC MODELLING CONDUCTED?

The AUTH team, in collaboration with GOF, conducted on-site acoustic modeling at four culturally significant filming locations.

The Unesco Church of Panagia of Sintis, the Monastery of Panagia of Asinou, the abandoned village of Phoenix, and the Klirou ophiolite site were selected for their heritage value and cinematic potential.

The team used sine sweep test signals, anechoic speech and music recordings, and balloon pops for accurate acoustic measurements.

Due to the absence of electrical outlets, a battery-powered speaker and a portable digital recorder with ambisonics capabilities were used to capture immersive 360-degree audio.
